The Maggio, through its Festival, begins a new series of discoveries in Florentine opera. The aim is to carry forward a reflection on a historically important repertoire, which inevitably finds a new examination and proposal in the various areas of the city from which it originates. The series begins with La Dafne by Marco da Gagliano, composed in 1608 with the libretto by Ottavio Rinuccini, which represents one of the heights of this important composer and one of the most important examples of the new style of Recitar Cantando and the beginning of musical opera.
